Taking advantage of both collective holidays and two overdue vacation periods from his day job, he boarded a two-day bus ride from São Paulo to Santiago, Chile, and settled into a short-term apartment rental for a one-month stay.
On December 6, his birthday, while celebrating at a cozy open-air bar and restaurant in Santiago, he met a beautiful and captivating young woman—always joyful, with large, expressive eyes that seemed to peer directly into his soul, bringing with her a presence that felt quietly extraordinary. She too was a traveler. Their connection was instant.
Together, they explored Santiago, Viña del Mar, Colchagua, Mendoza, and San Juan, creating memories full of warmth, laughter, and late-night conversations. They celebrated EMS’s birthday and Christmas side by side and made plans to welcome the New Year in Viña del Mar.
But suddenly and without warning, she vanished—called away by a family emergency. No message. No goodbye. Just silence. Emotionally shaken, EMS was left with a sense of incompletion, unanswered questions, and feelings suspended in time.
He canceled his New Year’s plans and returned to Brazil earlier than expected. While waiting for his flight at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport on December 31, he began writing what would become his next song: “The Unwritten Goodbye.”
