South African star Byron Major releases breakthrough Pop track – Summer Day – Review

Byron Major has achieved many feats in his growing career including singing with Pavarotti at a Nelson Mandela Tribute concert and being part of the world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir. This single follows on from his previous 2 UK official Music Week Club Pop hits and in our opinion is his finest release yet. ‘Summer Day’ is a song that lives with you and becomes part of your daily life and has that bounce that warms you up like the summer sun and a melody that is soothing and damn catchy. There are elements of soul, jazz and pop and that luscious chorus we predict big things for Byron Major a prolific artist with a distinctive musical vision – 10/10 STAR RATING

The History of Byron Major  –  ‘Soultronic’ Music Prodigy

“Byron is definitely a musical genius and understands the importance of the synergy between classical music and the digital space the recording industry is following.” – B Sharp Entertainment

Putting Singer-Songwriter-Producer Byron Major’s music into a box is not going to work. While his style is certainly influenced by his early classical music training, Byron takes on elements from Motown to 21st Century Electronica and even fused traditional South African sounds. His musical influences derive from artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Prince but his philosophy of musical variety is one that rejects categorizations. “My dream is for all of music to live under one umbrella, in one home. To me, genres in music is like racism in society – not applicable”, he explains. Byron Major likes to describe his own music sound as ‘Soultronic’.

Byron Major has achieved quite a lot for a 25-year-old: he’s performed his original song ‘South Africa’ at Nelson Mandela’s Boston birthday celebration in 2013, shared a stage with Pavarotti for his farewell tour in South Africa as part of the Drakensberg Boys Choir, made it to the Top 24 of South African Idols at the age of 17, and sang alongside Grammy Award-Winning singer Paula Cole at a songwriting showcase while attending the prestigious, Berklee College of Music in America. His 2016 single ‘May Flower’ caught the attention of 21 radio stations across the UK and was produced by multi-platinum selling producer Andy Whitmore (Lemar, Atomic Kitten & Eternal) in the Londoner’s Greystoke Studios, which also mixes and masters all of Byron’s tracks. Byron Major’s original track “Delicious” also charted for 10-weeks on college radio in South Africa.

In 2017, Matchbox Music PR presented Pop-artist, Byron Major’s single, “Midnight Daydream”. The song peaked at number 26 on the UK Music Week official club charts for Commercial Pop. World-renowned DJ/Producer Mikey Gallagher remixed the track with an inspired disco beat, Beatlesque piano arrangement and soulful R&B vocals, which surely got the club pumping and dance floor jiving. “Color My World” followed up this success for Byron Major by peaking at Number 15 on the UK Music Week Official Club Chart and concluded a very productive year for his music career.

Byron Major kicked off 2018 with the release of “Rockstar” which peaked at Number 1 on BBC Radio One’s Kings of Spin DJ Charts and went on to be playlisted in countries around the globe, including: Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, England & USA.
When Byron starting composing, and producing Rockstar, he asked himself: “If Mozart was alive today and had access to today’s music software technology, what would his musical pieces sound-like?” Therefore, in Byron Major’s single “Rockstar” he used current technology such as auto-tune, reverb and delay to create a classical chanting and atmospheric feel to a uniquely stylized vocal delivery. His choral training in 19th Classical music, and his interest of bringing this compositional music aesthetic into current 21st Century Electronica recording, influenced the production approach to the single.

Byron Major’s ends 2018 with his newest single “Summer Day” which is an anthem of personal encouragement & upliftment. Like in “Rockstar” Byron marries current vocal technology like auto-tune and ensemble with his soulful vocal sound & lyrics, that symbolizes his ‘Soultronic’ recording productions. The song crescendos into a celebratory second half; that is accentuated by catchy synth-hooks and a vibrant rhythmic percussion section, that will you have pressing replay.
