Little Mix are heading for glory on the Official Albums Chart this week as the group look set to claim their first Number 1 album.
The quartet’s fourth collection Glory Days has taken an early lead in today’s Official Chart Update and is on track for big opening week sales, racking up 64,000 combined sales already at the halfway stage of the chart week.
If Glory Days holds its momentum until Friday’s Official Albums Chart reveal, it will not only become one of the fastest-selling albums of the year so far, it’ll be Little Mix’s first Number 1 album, following three Top 5 collections DNA (2012), Salute (2013) and Get Weird (2015). Battling it out with Little Mix this week are Metallica, who are currently in the runner-up slot with their tenth studio album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. The band last reached the top spot in 2008 with Death Magnetic.
Rounding off a potential all-new Top 3 is Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic; the singer’s third album after 2012’s Number 1 record Unorthodox Jukebox.
Outside the Top 10, UB40’s first Unplugged album featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue starts at 16, singer-songwriter Dodie enters at 23 with Intertwined, and a new Donna Summer Ultimate Collection is at 25.
Finally, Craig David’s former Number 1 album Following My Intuition lifts seven places to 28 following his performances on BBC Children In Need and X Factor over the weekend, Andrea Bocelli’s Romanza debuts at 29, and French electronic duo Justice are at 30 with Woman.
